This is kind of a worrying precedent isn't it? Tony Blair's said today that he has seen "incontrovertible evidence" linking bin Laden to the attacks in the United States. But he can't tell us about it because it's too secret. As the article states, the question of evidence is important because many in the American-led coalition are uneasy about taking military action against Mr. bin Laden - or the Taliban leaders who have sheltered him - without proof of Mr. bin Laden's complicity. But never mind that; Tony's got the evidence, alright, he just can't tell you about it. Meanwhile assets are frozen, thousands of extra police officers are drafted onto foot patrols and new, harsher laws on extradition, monitoring of emails and other communication and asylum are being mooted.
