More hire car hassles
Today I have gone into bat against these guys to battle the imposition of a Congestion Charge penalty notice against a vehicle that I hired over Easter. The charge was occasioned when I was directed off my planned route (which would have kept me outside the zone) by a uniformed police officer as a result of an overturned lorry blocking part of the road ahead. I went about 20 yards into the Congestion Charge zone before doing a U–turn to get back out of the zone and back onto my planned route. Because the notice has gone via the hire company, it’s going to cost me £80 quid if I end up having to pay it. But I think it’s a bit of a cheek and I shouldn’t bloody well have to pay it, so I’m going to fight for a while. No doubt I’ll cave in once they start threatening to get CCJs against me or have me struck off as a solicitor (as I did after blowing hard for a while about that ticket for parking on the pavement) but nobody tell them what a pussy I am when the going gets tough and maybe I’ll be able to convince them to waive it!
If you get banged up, we'll parade around Westminster with "Free the Fox" banners. Or at least I'm sure your bird will.
Plus you never liked being a solicitor, so being struck off could be the silver lining.
