Carl Weathers Dilemma
I have just found out that tonight BBC1 is showing Rocky III and ITV is showing Predator. Simultaneously. What's a Carl Weathers fan to do?

a) be bloody grateful at being spoilt for choice; and
b) watch Predator.
Rocky III is the gay precursor of the glossy Baywatch beach montage.

Rocky III boasts Hulk Hogan AND Mr T, so I piddy the fool that misses out on those legends of wrestling.
Then again, Jesse Ventura is on fine form in Predator.
Its almost as bad as if they scheduled the darts against World's strongest man...

Went for Rocky III in the end - though when it finished I had to watch the end of Predator til 1am.
Leaving aside the dubious homoerotic beach training scenes (worse even than the Top Gun volleyball scenes) which boast an array of tights shorts, Bill S. Preston-esque cut-off T-shirts and Rock and Apollo frolicking in the surf, the film does have some great lines:
Thunderlips (Hulk Hogan) before his fight with Rocky: "“The ultimate male, versus the ultimate meatball!”
Clubber Lang(Mr T) before his fight with Rocky: "My prediction? Pain."
And the classic Mr T: "No, I don't hate Balboa. I pity the fool."
[Useless fact of the day - in training for Rocky III, Sly Stallone dropped from 195lbs to 155lbs]

How many heavyweight boxing champions of the world weigh a smidgen over 11 stone? Forget boxing, Rocky could have rowed as a lightweight.
