Parking
Further to my post about CCTV parking tickets, I was delighted to get a letter this morning informing me that one of the tickets has been cancelled and apologising for the delay in dealing with my correspondence. Without counting any chickens, that has got to bode somewhat well for the remaining ticket, which is for an identical alleged “offence”.

I agree that it ought to set a precedent - as a matter of logic, since the alleged offence is exactly the same for the other ticket, that should be cancelled also.
However, I am not counting my chickens yet - it appears that they assign a different case officer to each ticket and have declined my suggestion in correspondence that in this instance it makes sense for one person to deal with both tickets! So I suppose the other case officer could reach a different decision, and there isn't a strict legal doctrine of precedent that forces them to be 100% consistent in their decisions. But I agree that it must strengthen my argument substantially - fingers crossed!
