Gig - John Dankworth and Cleo Lane

At the Corn Exchange in Newbury. This was a very enjoyable evening’s entertainment. The performance comprised an instrumental set, with Duke Ellington standards setting the tone of the material, with Dame Cleo joining the band on stage after the interval to perform some stuff by people such as as Cole Porter, Gershwin and the like. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by the quality, energy and general feel–good factor of the performance, given that half of the band were pushing 80 years of age and most of the audience looked like they weren’t far behind.

You are George Melly.

I've seen how high you wear your troosers these days.
