Gig
Chas and Dave at the 100 Club. A thoroughly enjoyable night out. A very different experience from the large Chili Peppers–style gig where you pay £50 to stand 100 miles back. Ended up standing about a metre from the stage. Just piano, bass, drums and Cockney wit. Still got some tickets on the way for the Chilis at Earls Court, mind you… Note to self: try to see a bit more live music.

War on terror
Good bit of extra-territorial jurisdiction action from the US judiciary:
Mr Khadr ‘encourages’ his son to join ‘Al Qaeda’;
Khadr Jnr does so and blows up US solider in Afghanistan;
US court awards solider’s next of kin $100–or–so million in damages in default judgment against Mr Khadr Snr under US Anti–Terrorism Act.
Bonus question: does Osama’s face look bothered?

Infuriating buffoons
My wine still hasn’t turned up from those infuriating buffoons at Chateauonline. With delivery originally scheduled for May 2005, and March fast approaching, I have a horrible suspicion that the Customer (non)Service department are taking bets on whether they can string it out for the full 1 year late on delivery. I hate Chateauonline.
If anyone wants any wine, I would recommend Jeroboams.
Stakes in kidneys
The free market is all very well and good, but I would say it has gone too far should it encompass the liberty for people to do deals for the sale of non–essential body parts. What next? It’s just wrong.

A nice deconstruction of a football chant.

S'leb Spot
Although it’s George Galloway who is the local MP, it was surprisingly Preston (does he have another name?) whom I saw shopping in the local Waitrose today. Waitrose is presumably too bourgeois for the leftist GG. I was slightly hungover, and in this state inadvertantly put two lemons into the trolley belonging to the Preston party, mistaking it for my own. The great man himself was somewhat shorter than he appears on TV, as great men often are.

Rock - Hard place
When the disagreement is as to whether or not tolerance itself is tolerable, there is no room for one side to tolerate those who cannot tolerate tolerance or for the other side to tolerate tolerance when tolerance is intolerable.
Or, “the difference between penumbral and pivotal disputes”.
Or, “you just can’t reason with these guys”.

Commonwealth Society
Went to a charity fundraising dinner for the Commonwealth Society for the Deaf last night. One of the famous people there was newsreader Moira Stewart. I didn’t introduce myself to her, but my girlfriend did. Now, my girlfriend is not the tallest, but Moira’s response was still a bit of a surprise (if amusing) — “shouldn’t you be in bed?”.
