Happy Christmas

That last post is too negative to leave at the top of the page for the festive season, so before I bugger off for Christmas, I will wish everyone all the best and leave you with two thoughts that occurred to me this week:

  1. Does anyone actually use “ordinary zinc carbon batteries” anymore?
  2. Am I right in thinking that the new voice of Orange voicemail is the woman from the M&S Food adverts (“this isn’t just voicemail…”)?

If I don’t post again before then, a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year to one — Gwen Stefani, Natasha Bedingfield, Akon — and all.

Akon still struggling to grow into mighty oak

Does the extended remix version of Sorry, Blame it on Me by Akon include a line about “sorry for being shite and making irritating records”? It should do.

Trinity

Went to Trinity in Clapham on Saturday night as guests of friends from the ’hood who have managed to get out and move to south west London. I had crab and apple salad, followed by venison casserole, followed by cappuccino crème brulé. Wines were a nice Croze Hermitage blanc, followed by a French Malbec, followed by a marc de Bourgogne (a tradition that harks back to a visit to a place called Soulard when we were still in the ’hood). I thought that the food was very good indeed: recommended. The venison casserole was particularly good on a cold night: chestnuts, seasonal vegetables and very tasty venison. Bonus celebrity spot: Marcus Waring.
